Responsibilities
The Sr. Network Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining network communications and equipment. This role will maintain all aspects of LAN/WAN, VoIP, and firewall systems to help design, support, and install internal and external networks. The Sr. Network Engineer tests and evaluates network systems and platforms to eliminate problems and make system improvements. In this role, you will provide day-to-day support on Voice-over-IP (VoIP) enabled infrastructure, Circuits (provision and maintaining), Firewall and work closely with systems engineers to provide network support for server and virtualization platforms in the Azure Cloud environment. The Sr. Network Engineer monitors the performance of the LAN & WAN and performs Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for network outages. A successful candidate is familiar with security concepts applying to the Network.
- Recommend information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes, identifying problems, evaluating trends, and anticipating requirements.
- Direct technological research by studying the organizations goals, strategies, practices, user projects and Azure Cloud migration.
- Ensure correct software & hardware management – propose and implement system enhancements; plan, test, implement operating system upgrades; install OS, maintenance releases, critical fixes, and service packs; assist with application upgrades and installations.
- Oversee the general operation of subgroup requirements related to system design, including the operating system, for the following environment servers: Terminal, Citrix, Web - IIS, File, Print, DNS, DHCP, McAfee, WUS, NT Backup Exec, and other applications.
- Engineer 3rd level support for operations and office IT personnel on server hardware, printer, and network-related issues.
- Monitor Network interfaces – LAN/WAN interfaces; troubleshoot QoS and TCP/IP issues on servers; DNS and DHCP configuration and troubleshooting.
- Manage Global Data Center facilities.
- Manage IT Infrastructure planning, support, and execution for all Corporate and Shared Services IT Infrastructure implementations.
- Preserve assets by implementing disaster recovery, data backup procedures, and information governance control structures.
- Create, track, and manage an Expense and Captial budget for ongoing results.
- Ensure that all solutions are engineered to follow defined and approved policies, procedures, and compliance requirements directed by Senior IT management.
- Define, create, and deliver documentation – hardware/software configurations, change control, downtime/availability, problem/resolution, procedures, resource usage, etc.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, and participating in professional societies.
- Promote a culture of education and cross-training within the IT organization.
- Set clear expectations and create accountability for the team.
- Work with project managers and staff to effectively prioritize and forecast work for the Engineering team.
- Support a 24/7/365 fast-paced and rapidly evolving environment.
- May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate (e.g., emergencies change in workload, rush jobs, or technical developments).
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience IT computer software/computer systems engineering Experience
- 7-10 years’ experience
- Minimum of 5 years of technical hands-on experience as a Network Engineer
Certifications
- CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) certification is required
Specialized Skills & Competencies
- Advanced to expert level of competence is required in most of the areas listed below:
- Network routing protocols – BGP, EIGRP, OSPF.
- IPsec Tunnels, IPv4, IPv6, MPLS, ACL, VLSM, CIDR.
- DNS, DHCP, IPAM.
- Centralize Authentication servers (RSA SecurID, Cisco ISE).
- Cisco FMC/FTD sensors.
- Meraki Wireless network.
- Network Monitoring (SolarWinds, Cisco Prime Infrastructure).
- Azure Cloud network
- Develop and maintain written documentation and diagrams.
- All Networking topologies (Ethernet, SRP, POS, etc.)
- Switching and configuration options (VLANS, HSRP, NSSA, DHCP, PBR, VPNs, NAT, etc.)
- Internet applications and their protocols (TCP, UDP, Peer to peer type apps, mail, news, web surfing, SNMP, etc.) Multicast (PIM, IGMPv2 and v3 Auto-RP)
- Advanced Experience with NMS solutions to support the Network and host devices.
- Ability to work well under pressure with tight deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a large business environment with a sense of urgency.
- Must be able to travel with a valid passport.
- Previous Airline experience would be a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment on large or complex projects required
