Position: Production Welder
Reports To: Director of Operations
Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Wage Range: $20 - $30 / Hour
BASIC WORKER FUNCTION:
Welds metal parts to build or repair products. Follows blueprints, work orders, and written instructions. Makes sure all welds are strong, safe, and high quality.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF
TASKS:
• Read and follow blueprints and welding instructions.
• Set up and use welding machines such as MIG, TIG, or Stick.
• Line up and hold metal parts in place before welding.
• Do small tack welds and then complete final welds.
• Check welds to make sure they meet quality rules.
• Grind and smooth welded areas when needed.
• Keep tools, machines, and work area clean and safe.
• Follow all safety rules and wear proper safety gear.
• Help train or guide newer welders when needed.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Good hand control and coordination.
• Able to measure parts and check sizes accurately.
• Able to work alone or with a team.
• Careful and focused on doing quality work.
• Knows and follows safety rules and uses safety gear.
QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience welding in a shop or factory setting.
• Welding certification is a plus.
• Able to read blueprints and basic welding symbols.
• Familiar with MIG, TIG, Stick, or similar welding types.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Stand for long periods of time.
• Lift and move up to 50 pounds, with help if needed.
• Bend, reach, twist, and stoop often.
• Use hands to handle tools and materials.
• Perform the same hand motions many times.
• See clearly to read drawings and measurements.
• Wear safety gear such as a welding helmet, gloves, and protective clothing.
