Job Title: Aircraft Engine MechanicJob Description
The Aircraft Engine Mechanic will provide Organizational Level (“O” level) support for the F-18 E/F aircraft, specifically focusing on the F414-GE-400 engine, and general aircraft mechanic duties. This role demands an understanding of pre and post-flight activities, inspections, and the ability to service aircraft with engine oil and hydraulics.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance operations on F-18 aircraft, equipment, engines, components, and systems in accordance with all applicable directives.
- Read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, process specifications, technical manuals, written instructions, and test procedures.
- Set up and use pneumatic tools such as screw guns, torque wrenches, and common hand tools like wrenches and safety wire pliers.
- Remove and replace aircraft panels, floorboards, insulation, sealing compounds, and mechanical fasteners.
- Remove, replace, and check out aircraft components and assemblies.
- Understand and work with aircraft engine fuel systems and hydraulics, including primary, secondary, and emergency systems.
- Provide technical advice, training, and troubleshooting assistance to “O” Level technicians.
- Familiarity with IETM’s, NAMP 4790, and applicable NAVAIR technical publications.
- Generate written reports for management as required to support contractual obligations.
Essential Skills- Minimum of 3 years of experience with F/A-18 E/F aircraft.
- Familiarity with F/A-18 inspections, servicing, troubleshooting, removals, and repairs.
- Active secret DOD clearance.
- Comprehensive written and verbal English communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible schedules.
- Ability to document maintenance and repair actions clearly.
- Capability to perform duties while wearing safety equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Strong preference for candidates who have supported U.S. Navy F-18 squadrons on deployment.
- A & P License. (Not required)
- Certification in seat removal.

Work Environment
The work will be conducted at the NAS Joint Reserve Base in New Orleans, LA, supporting the F-18 E/F Super Hornet aircraft. This effort includes three positions, with two supporting the first shift and one supporting a dedicated night shift. Initially, there will be a month of training and certifications before hands-on aircraft work begins.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
