Summary:
The Senior Executive, Quality Assurance, will be responsible for overseeing quality assurance processes for inflight meals and packaging across AOCs. This role ensures that all inflight products meet the highest safety, quality, sustainability, and regulatory standards. The QA Senior Executive will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product development and sustainability leads, to maintain robust quality control systems and drive continuous improvement in product quality, packaging standards, and environmentally responsible practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance for Inflight Services:
Manage the quality assurance and packaging processes for inflight meals across AOCs.
Ensure all products meet required safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory standards, adhering to HACCP, FSSC 22000, and applicable sustainability guidelines.
Collaborate with the product and sustainability teams to align on inflight product quality and eco-conscious packaging standards.
Vendor Audits, Sustainability & Compliance:
Conduct regular audits of inflight catering and packaging vendors to assess compliance with food safety, quality, and sustainability benchspans.
Evaluate vendor practices against sustainable sourcing, waste reduction, and material circularity goals.
Lead efforts with suppliers to adopt more sustainable materials and processes, ensuring timely resolution of quality and environmental non-conformance reports (NCRs).
Packaging Compliance & Sustainability:
Ensure all packaging materials used in inflight products comply with regulatory, safety, and sustainability requirements (e.g., recyclability, compostability, and reduced environmental footprint).
Collaborate with product and design teams to assess packaging innovations, materials, and lifecycle impacts in alignment with the company’s sustainability roadmap.
Support the transition to eco-friendly materials and reduction of single-use plastics in packaging.
Continuous Improvement Initiatives:
Analyze quality and sustainability metrics to identify improvement opportunities across inflight meal production and packaging.
Implement quality control processes that also minimize waste, improve energy/resource efficiency, and support circular economy goals.
Propose and lead initiatives that align food safety with environmental performance targets.
Regulatory, Safety & Environmental Compliance:
Ensure compliance with local and international food safety and packaging regulations, as well as sustainability standards and reporting requirements.
Monitor and interpret updates on regulations affecting food quality, packaging materials, and environmental compliance.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Work closely with product, procurement, and sustainability teams to integrate QA and environmental responsibility in the development lifecycle.
Support regional QA teams in embedding sustainability into standardized quality processes across all AOCs.
Assist the Training Manager in delivering training that emphasizes both quality and sustainability best practices for internal and vendor teams.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain comprehensive documentation on quality assurance, environmental audits, packaging sustainability assessments, and vendor compliance.
Qualifications & Experience :
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Quality Management, Packaging Technology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
5–7 years of experience in Quality Assurance, preferably in inflight catering, food production, or sustainable packaging.
Demonstrated experience in vendor management, quality auditing, and sustainability assessments.
Strong knowledge of food safety regulations (HACCP, FSSC 22000) and environmental packaging standards.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with an understanding of sustainable materials and waste reduction strategies.
Effective communication and collaboration skills across departments and geographies.
Passion for continuous improvement and integrating sustainability into operational excellence.
