This role guides and directs various ACM groups, contracted maintenance organizations and flight crews to ensure compliance with ACM requirements, aircraft serviceability, OTP and in accordance with the AC-MCM.Leads and manages a team of Maintenance Operation Controllers, Cabin Specialist, and MOC Coordinators, who oversee technical dispatch of the Air Canada fleet to ensure safety and communicate fleet status to operational branches. This includes hiring and training employees, creating and implementing processes for each team to ensure compliance.
Responsibilities: Primary contact for ACM in the Operations Center who coordinates with the Chief Dispatcher, SOC Manager, OCMs and ACM Planning to provide direction to Line Maintenance or Contract Providers. Represents ACM during AC operational calls to provide current aircraft status and out of service risks.Acts on behalf of the PRM during off hours to remove aircraft from service as required if safety is compromised. Responsible for handling moderate to high amount of complexity and drives autonomous decision making to ensure aircraft repairs are performed safely, as per approved instructions and in a timely manner.Monitoring aircraft defects, establishing repair plans and prioritizing rectification of unserviceable aircraft.Represent maintenance operations for MEL review and manage MEL extensions within the Maintenance Computer program.Manage the costs of returning the aircraft to service in out stations with the coordination of SOC and ACM transportation, AOG team and Purchasing department.Prioritize significant events or incidents, establish repair plans and propose mitigations to avoid repeat events.Facilitate and host daily operational calls and out of service calls when required. Follow up calls for complex AOGs and assembling expertise and support services as required to rescue unserviceable aircraft.Review/prioritizing overnight maintenance issues with Planning, SOC and MOC teams.Prioritizing MEL defects with operational impact/restrictions and ensure repair coordination among all ACM stakeholders for repairs.Initiate and manage the Flight Permit process as required and ensure the aircraft is fit and safe for the flight. Coordinate adhoc maintenance at outstations for out service aircraft, repeat inspections and/or inbound defects. Ensure accurate estimates for out of service aircraft are provided to SOC and prioritize work for ACM.Manage the Maintenance Operation Controller, Cabin Specialist, and MOC Coordinator teams and ensure they are adequately trained for their function.
QualificationsPossess a valid A.M.E. M2 or E License or equivalent with at least one active endorsement on any aircraft type in the Air Canada fleet. At least 7 years experience in an Airline, MOC or Line Maintenance leadership role.Demonstrated managerial courage to make and/or challenge decisions.Proven knowledge of regulatory programs/agencies (Maintenance Control Manual, Transport Canada, FAA). Ability to analyze aircraft disruptions (delays/incidents) and recommend remedial actions via recommended maintenance actions. Willingness to work shift and at times extended hours. Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and ability for teamwork. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Excellent English communication skills both (oral & written).Ability to deal effectively with internal/external customers. Demonstrate leadership skills. Sound judgment and strong sense of initiative in taking appropriate actions. Ability to provide direction and clear instructions on technical matters. Ability to work with minimal supervision. External or internal management development. Computer skills (Word, Excel, E-mail, Windows).
