Job Description

The Strategic Initiatives Manager supports the development and execution of an integrated industrial base strategy and roadmap to achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) ambitions. This role orchestrates cross-functional teams to identify critical value streams, industrialize breakthrough solutions, and execute prioritized initiatives that optimize our industrial base in support of current and future products and customer needs.

Key focus areas:

  • Develop and execute the industrial base strategy, aligning value streams to the right source and optimizing make/buy decisions.
  • Identify, prioritize, and close value stream gaps to improve performance, productivity, delivery, and quality.
  • Industrialize and scale solutions that shift value-chain economics, strengthen resilience, and accelerate SQDC improvement.
  • Maintain an integrated roadmap and operating cadence that drives timely decisions, measurable outcomes, and sustained impact across functions

Role responsibilities:

Strategy and portfolio

  • Build a fact-based view of industry structure, supplier economics, and risk exposure for essential value streams
  • Define core vs non-core boundaries and partnership models to guide strategic own/partner decisions.
  • Translate strategy into a prioritized initiative portfolio with clear business cases, investments, owners, and timelines.
  • Communicate strategy and initiatives effectively to internal stakeholders, customers, and suppliers; drive alignment and adoption across levels.

Value stream and capacity improvement

  • Lead structured assessments to baseline capacity, yield/quality, delivery, and cost by value stream.
  • Identify critical bottlenecks and constraints; implement targeted actions to close gaps and verify sustainment.
  • Optimize value impact through source alignment, footprint decisions, and process improvements.

Execution, governance, and cadence

  •  Drive bias for action—shorten decision cycles and deliver measurable SQDC improvements.
  • Establish and run decision forums and action plans; assign owners, due dates, and success metrics.
  • Track milestones, risks, and benefits realization; escalate blockers and reallocate resources as needed.
  • Coordinate cross-functional owners across Engineering, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Quality, and Finance

Performance management and reporting

  • Lead the deployment, coaching, and sustainment of the FLIGHT DECK lean operating principles.
  •  Build dashboards for TTIs and PPIs; monitor trends and aging; implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Conduct monthly operating reviews and quarterly strategy refreshes; update the roadmap based on results.
  • Codify lessons learned; update standard work, templates, and playbooks.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university + minimum of 5 years in supply chain, operations, industrial engineering, sourcing, or strategy/transformation within complex manufacturing experience

Desired Characteristics and Experience:

  • Experience leading large-scale cross-functional programs with measurable SQDC impact.
  • Strategic consulting experience at an established firm or equivalent transformation leadership.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills: ability to understand and interpret financial statements; NPV/run-rate modeling, cost/benefit analyses, and sensitivity modeling.
  • Demonstrated analytical and conceptual problem solving; comfort with quantitative analysis.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal); ability to influence without authority and work effectively across all levels.
  • Experience with value stream mapping, capacity modeling, and supplier development/negotiations
