Position: Manufacturing Engineer
Reports To: Director of Manufacturing
Status: Exempt
Pay Range: $66,000 – $90,000 Per Year
BASIC WORKER FUNCTION:
The Manufacturing Engineer determines the best ways to use people, machines, materials, information, and energy to produce aerospace components. This role focuses on improving productivity by managing manufacturing methods and technology. You will review product requirements, build and improve processes, and support production using current equipment and systems.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF
TASKS:
- Investigate and solve manufacturing and production problems
- Develop, document, and improve manufacturing processes
- Study product requirements and apply current facility technology to build strong processes
- Create new processes using existing equipment or new capital equipment when available
- Monitor production flow and analyze operations for efficiency and quality
- Recommend and implement improvements to increase productivity
- Assist with cost studies and cost reduction efforts
- Identify tooling needs, including cutting tools and fixtures
- Review production schedules, engineering drawings, and work orders to ensure requirements are met
- Adjust workflow and production schedules to meet deadlines and improve output
- Use planning and control systems to coordinate production activities
- Work with vendors, production staff, and management on materials, processes, and project updates
- Support other areas of the facility based on production and development needs
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience with CNC machining and programming
- Knowledge of tooling, cutting conditions, and machining processes
- Familiarity with manual machining, welding, and sheet metal processes
- Proficient with computers, including CNC programming and SolidWorks
- Strong math skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to observe processes and develop improvements with minimal supervision
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology or related field, or equivalent experience
- 3–8 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role in a production environment
- Aerospace or other tight-tolerance/regulated manufacturing experience preferred
- Vocational or hands-on machining experience is a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Frequent bending, reaching, and movement throughout the facility
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Ability to see fine details (close vision)
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
