Aircraft Component Technician
Job Description:
We are seeking FAA-certified Aircraft Component Technicians to support our FAA Part 145 accessory-rated repair station. Technicians will perform inspection, troubleshooting, repair, overhaul, testing, and return-to-service of a wide variety of aircraft components including, but not limited to, seating systems, galley equipment, lighting assemblies, batteries, electric motors, valves, and oxygen system components.
 
This role requires a strong understanding of component-level maintenance, FAA regulatory compliance, and technical documentation in a production repair environment.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform disassembly, inspection, repair, overhaul, modification, functional testing, and reassembly of aircraft accessories and components in accordance with approved data
  • Interpret and work from CMMs, IPCs, AMMs, engineering orders, service bulletins, ADs, and internal repair specifications
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical component discrepancies to root cause
  • Perform functional and operational testing using approved test equipment and fixtures
  • Accurately complete maintenance records, work orders, inspection reports, and FAA-required documentation
  • Identify unairworthy conditions, damage, and discrepancies beyond repair station capability and escalate per procedures
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with FAA regulations (14 CFR Part 145), Repair Station Manual (RSM), Quality Manual, and customer requirements
  • Maintain proper handling, tagging, and segregation of serviceable, unserviceable, and scrap components
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, efficiency, and reliability
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and FOD-free work environment
  • Assist with training and mentoring of junior technicians as required
Required Qualifications
  • FAA Airframe and/or Powerplant Certificate (A&P) – active and in good standing
  • Minimum 2–5 years of hands-on experience performing aircraft component or accessory maintenance in a Part 145, airline, or OEM environment
  • Demonstrated experience working at the component level (bench repair, teardown, testing, reassembly)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, wiring diagrams, and specifications
  • Strong understanding of FAA regulatory requirements, airworthiness determinations, and return-to-service processes
  • Experience with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, torque tools, multimeters, etc.)
  • Proficiency in basic computer systems for maintenance tracking and documentation
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining quality standards
Preferred / Competitive Qualifications
  • Prior experience in an FAA Part 145 accessory or component repair station
  • Experience with one or more of the following component categories:
  • Aircraft seating systems and seat actuators
  • Galley equipment and cabin interior components
  • Aircraft lighting systems (interior/exterior)
  • Aircraft batteries (Ni-Cd, lead-acid, or lithium, as applicable)
  • Electric motors, solenoids, and electromechanical assemblies
  • Valves, regulators, and pneumatic or oxygen system components
  • Familiarity with 8130-3 documentation, traceability requirements, and parts certification
  • Experience working under EASA / UK CAA dual-release or export requirements
  • Ability to support internal audits, FAA surveillance, and customer audits
  • Experience with Lean, 5S, or continuous improvement practices
